Deputies in Ontario County arrested a 28-year-old Palmyra man following a traffic stop on State Route 21 in Manchester.
Deputies say that James F. Merkley, 28, of Palmyra was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while ability impaired by drugs.
During the traffic stop deputies observed Merkley to be impaired by drugs, and located several pills, which were identified as a controlled substance.
He was transported to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office where a drug influence evaluation was performed by a Certified Drug Recognition Expert.
He was transported to the Ontario County Jail where he was processed and released.
Appearance tickets returnable to Manchester Town Court were issued following the incident.
